ISLAMABAD: After winning the qualification round in a handsome manner, Aman Attique, Faizan Khurram, Zaid Mujahid and Usman Rafique moved into the main draw of the Serena Hotel Asian Tennis Tour men’s singles here on Thursday.

The Asian Tennis Tour event is being played here at the Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex. Besides the above mentioned four qualifiers, country’s top ten players as well as two wild card entrants — Mudasir Murtaza and Ahmed Chaudhry — will be seen in action at the main draw of 16 players.

The main draw will be contested from Friday (today).

“The Indian player who was to contest in qualification round didn’t turn up while the Uzbek player whose match is slated to be held on Friday is still being awaited though he has not contacted us for visa processing which means that he is unlikely to arrive,” PTF secretary Khalid Rehmani said here.

Meanwhile, the quarter-finals were played in various categories. In the U-18 quarter-final, Muzammil Murtaza beat Saqib Umer 6-2, 6-4, Adbal Haider defeated Asadullah 6-0, 6-1 and Yousuf Khan defeated Barkatullah 6-2, 6-4. The fourth quarter-final will be played on Friday.

In the ladies singles quarter-finals, Sara Mansoor defeated Shiza Sajid 6-0, 6-0; Mehak Khokhar beat Shimza Tahir 6-3, 6-4 and Mahin Aftab outclassed Sara Mano 6-0, 6-0. Also, Sarah Mahboob overcame Bakhtawar Haider 6-0, 6-0.

In the boys’ under-14 singles quarter-finals, Mohamamd Shoaib defeated Kashan Umer 4-0, 4-0, Nalain Abbas beat Hamid Israr 4-1, 4-1 and Ahmed Kamil overcame Sami Zeb 4-2, 4-2. Hamza Bin Rehan also played well to beat M. Abdullah 0-4, 4-2, 5-3.

In the boys’ U-10 quarter-finals, Hamid Israr beat Zainab Ali 4-0, 4-2, M. Talha Khan trounced Shehzad Sajid 4-0, 4-0, Huzaifa Khan defeated Ahmed Nael 4-0, 3-0 (retd) and Hamza Roman overcame Moiz Gul 4-0, 4-0.
