Pakistan crush Cricket Australia XI by 201 runs

Opener Azhar Ali hit an unbeaten 82 and spinner Mohammad Nawaz took three wickets as Pakistan thrashed a modest Cricket Australia XI by 201 runs in Cairns on Saturday.

The tourists declared their second innings at 216 for six and then polished off the CA XI for 109 off 27.3 overs to win early on the final day of their three-day day-night game ahead of next week's first Test against Australia in Brisbane.

Pakistan set the CA XI a target of 311 run but the inexperienced home side never got within range with left-arm spinner Nawaz snaring three for 31 and pace bowlers Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali each capturing two wickets.

Ali added 38 to his overnight score and struck three of his seven fours and two sixes on the final day before the Pakistan declaration to set up the result.

Nawaz was unbeaten alongside Ali on 36 off 47 balls, with Sarfraz Ahmed the only man to be dismissed on Saturday, bowled for 39.

Pakistan are coming off a two-Test series defeat in New Zealand and have lost their last nine Tests in Australia going back to 1999.

It would be foolish to read too much into this. The real test wil be the test series. Pakistan have a dismal record in tests in Australia. The last three series we have played down under we have been whitewashed 3-0 each time I.e we have lost 9 straight tests in Australia. Given our inept batting displays in New Zealand recently, this series could be no different.

No need to be happy even theif 2nd team has not let our batsman to stay on pitch.and it seems we are happy with our progress. It's the batting which has always let us down. Why are we so defensive in batting.. we can only hope

ausies being ausies, go to next level of patheticness by playing under 20's against a visiting international side but what they have done is destroyed the careers of those 11 who played as they will consider themselves as the worst players australia cricket could think of to show dis-respect to an international side!

If younus and Mibah fail to perform in Australia, then this will be the end of their career. Furthermore, for God sake do not include Wahab Riaz in the playing 11. He is not a wicket taker and also very expensive.

Pakistan worst nightmare is their batting in those conditions then what's the point to declare early? Why not to bat even longer and get familiar with the pitch condition?? This is good to get a win but in long sight, a strategic poor planning.

A very weak selection and we may miss the best opportunity to win series in Aus again. Nawaz, Rizwan, Imran, Rahat, and Sharjeel don't really belong in the test squad. I cant believe that this is the best selection we have!!

Let's not celebrate yet, since beating a team with no international level players make this just a club side and our batsman could not even bat against a club level players and we are thinking about giving tough time to the real Australian team. We are in for a big surprise here and I would say our fate will be no different since we have players in the side deserve not to be in. So let the real Test begin and we will see how Pakistan Batting will collapse again.
