Khyber peace games start

LANDI KOTAL: The Khyber Agency peace games started at the Jamrud Sports Complex here on Friday.

Khyber Agency political agent Khalid Mehmud along with Fata Olympics Association president Shahid Shinwari inaugurated the weeklong event which will be participated by about 1,600 players from Bara, Jamrud and Landi Kotal to compete in different games.

Speaking on the occasion, the political agent said that the event was a manifestation of restoration of peace in Khyber Agency. He said that the main purpose of the event was to give a message of peace and love to the world.

He said that after successful holding of the first car and jeep rally from Torkham to Bara, the first sports gala in Tirah valley and the recently-held skeet shooting competition, the political administration was planning to hold the first official shooting competition in the agency.

Shahid Shinwari said that the players would compete for top honours in football, basketball, vollyball, table tennis, archery, martial arts, baseball, hockey, cricket and bodybuilding games.
