LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will decide about the celebration of Basant, says Punjab Information Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman.

At a Meet the Press programme here on Wednesday, the minister said a decision to celebrate the festival of kites would be taken by the chief minister on his return from London.

Earlier, School Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad said a committee had finalised its recommendations and proposed celebration of the traditional event in February.

Basant has been banned since 2005 because of casualties caused by the string of kites.

Mr Rehman said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto should come out of the ‘walled house’ and then criticise the PML-N leadership.

He predicted that apex court’s decision would come in favour of the Punjab government in the Orange Line case.
