KARACHI: Fawad Ijaz Khan caused a major upset in the opening round match of 55-plus category at the ITF Seniors Tennis Tournament when he beat top seeded Indian player Naresh Khatri by a convincing margin of 6-1, 6-3 at the Karachi Gymkhana on Saturday.

Fawad, who is the chairman of Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, proved too good for Naresh and won the opening set from one game down to win all six consecutive games.

In other matches, Altaf Hussain beat Frank Tallutoof Argentina by 6-2,6-3 in the 55-plus category while Tariq Jan and Sabih Wali also triumphed in the 45-plus and 60-plus categories respectively.
