US president-elect Donald Trump said on Wednesday he is willing to play any role that Pakistan wants to find solutions to outstanding problems, reported Radio Pakistan.
Trump made these remarks in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The premier had called Trump to felicitate him on his recent victory.
The US president-elect also said it will be an honour for him to do so and he will personally do what is needed.
During the telephone conversation, Trump also praised Nawaz and expressed his desire to meet the prime minister soon.
Trump added that Pakistan is an amazing with tremendous opportunities and Pakistanis are some of the most intelligent people.
The prime minister also invited the president-elect of the United States. Trump, in reply, said he would love to visit the country and meet its people.
Following is the text of the conversation between PM Nawaz and Trump, as released by government's Press Information Department (PID).
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called President-elect USA Donald Trump and felicitated him on his victory. President Trump said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif you have a very good reputation. You are a terrific guy. You are doing amazing work which is visible in every way. I am looking forward to see you soon. As I am talking to you Prime Minister, I feel I am talking to a person I have known for long. Your country is amazing with tremendous opportunities. Pakistanis are one of the most intelligent people. I am ready and willing to play any role that you want me to play to address and find solutions to the outstanding problems. It will be an honor and I will personally do it. Feel free to call me any time even before 20th January that is before I assume my office.
On being invited to visit Pakistan by the Prime Minister, Mr. Trump said that he would love to come to a fantastic country, fantastic place of fantastic people. Please convey to the Pakistani people that they are amazing and all Pakistanis I have known are exceptional people, said Mr. Donald Trump.
Earlier, Donald Trump had said that if elected, he’d like to mediate between India and Pakistan because the region was a “very, very hot tinderbox”.
But like the Obama administration, Trump also said that he would only mediate if both countries asked him to do so.
Donald Trump, riding a wave of populist resentment, defeated Hillary Clinton in the race to become the 45th president of the United States.
Trump secured at least 290 electoral votes, securing more than the 270 he needed to succeed Barack Obama.

Its better if the USA keeps its nose out of another Muslim countries affairs, they have a rather novel way of helping, just ask Syria, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Colombia, Panama... I might just name most of the countries on the atlas.
The thing is at the core of all US policies is the nations self interest, which is linked to their economic interests. So if a situation becomes economically unviable, they don't think twice before cutting their loses and leaving their partners high and dry.

Mr. Trump understand US-Pakistan strong relationship since 1947. The relationship goes beyond what common citizen understand. Pakistan close co-operation with US in 60's when U2 spy plans were flying out of Peshawar over the Soviet Union. Pakistan played a key role bring China closer to the US. Fantastic team work to defeat USSR and effectively eliminated the threat and end of clod war in 1980s - 90s. War on terror fight where Pakistan pay a heavy price is another proof of its strong friendship. No one will forget massacre of 150 school children. The list of close friendship goes on and on.... Up and downs comes in the relationship and they have always overcome. Not only Mr. Trump but all US presidents have respected Pakistani people and supported them in time of needs.

@J. Shah Suddenly all people who were critical of US and the so called alliance of India with US are gaga over USA. May be Trump wants to join CPEC and build whole bunch of Trump Towers in the corridor. The whole world be gathering aroud the CPEC and there is a lot of scope for making money.

US would never let India sway away if it has to tackle the rise of China.
So practically, Kashmir issue won't get resolved until India and Pakistan sit and discuss. These (India-US, Pakistan-US on Kashmir issue) are just 'useless' diplomatic talks.

This is just to please the prime minister, otherwise, the Americans will not change their political agenda, which is to use Pakistan as a partner in safeguarding their interests, whither its the formation of Taliban. Another note, how Pakistanis are happy for Trump nice talks with Nawaz Sharif, while they call those who keep close relation with America as their puppet.

NS is trying to take advantage of a private conversation between him and US President elect who has yet to take office. What Trump said was more of like sharing pleasantries when you receive a call from the leader of a country congratulating you on great win and when you have yet to take office. What matters is that what will be the official US policy once Trump takes office. I will say hold on to your horses, it will sure be a bumpy ride for Pak because remember terrorism will be the first on the priorities list of the President elect and he had made it clear that he will punish all countries where the terrorism is emanating from...so buckle up or fix the house before it hits you.

As soon as Trump finishes building the wall along the Mexican-US border, he can tackle India-Pakistan problems.
The man speaks from both sides of his mouth. Anti-Muslim to the core, yet praising NS as a 'terrific PM', despite the later's unpopularity at home. Does that not sound like a deliberate attempt to cause more friction within Pakistan, and anti-US hostility and resentment towards both NS and Trump himself, so he can use it as a excuse to expel Muslims from the US??

The reason for Trumps praise for Nawaz Sharif needs to be understood by us Pakistanis. Who will benefit by giving credit-ability to a Prime Minister under trial for corruption. Looks like investment done by someone is about to dissipate and efforts are being made to save it.

Never believe a word that comes our of this guys month. He says one thing at 8 am, something totally different at lunch time and yet something totally different again at 5 pm. He is not a stable person, and overstates everything. When he visits India, he will speak words that Indian's are going to love and make Pakistani wonder what happened to the guy that spoke so pro-Pakistani words.

Trump will not fare any better till you change to become a constructive and progressive country instead of religiously retrogressive state and economical defunct.Get on with your neighbours and rest of the world and have good relationship with them primarily on economics,political and socially and you will transcend to new acceptable level to all and sundry.
