Chinese ship, trade convoy reach Gwadar port

GWADAR: The first trade convoy carrying Chinese goods for export through the western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and a Chinese ship arrived at the port here on Friday.
Official sources confirmed the anchoring of the ship at the port and said another vessel was expected to arrive within 24 hours.
The second trade convoy was scheduled to reach here on Saturday (today).
The goods will be exported to countries in the Middle East and Africa.
A ceremony marking the opening of trade activities through the corridor will be held on Sunday, which will attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and ambassadors of 15 countries.
Meanwhile, the Gwadar Yakjehti Council took out a procession in support of the CPEC.
Speaking at the Gwadar Press Club, the organisers of the procession termed the CPEC a game-changer for the region, especially Balochistan, as it would bring about progress and prosperity.
They said the elements opposing the CPEC were not well-wishers of the people of Gwadar.
“We are happy that Gwadar is at the centre of the CPEC because this will remove poverty and create jobs for the local people,” one of the speakers said.
The speakers praised the role of the Pakistan Army and said the corridor could not have been completed without the support of the armed forces.
They added that the council would always try to protect the rights of people of Gwadar.

As I said it before, if carried out correctly and honestly where all will benefit I.e. rich, poor, Punjab, KPK, Sind etc then CPEC will make Pak otherwise it will break Pak.
People want to know how Pak will benefit? So my friend 1) economic activity is always good for the economy, and 2) 54 billion is just an initial investment and China will invest now 10 time more to protect its investment.
Also, as I said with the completion of CPEC, China will rise and it will be a matter of time before it will reach complete world dominance and all those who are opposing or messing with China's interest will pay a heavy price.

If by ship then the question arises is why China ofload it in Gwader instead of offloading directly in its destination of export to middle East and Africa bearing the offloading cost itself?? Or is it the off-loading cost will be added to Pakistan's payment book??
The 3rd question that arise is how long China continue to do this because the longer China will do the longer the offloading cost will continue getting added in Pakistan s payment book afart from usual 46 billion repayment.so serious question that need to be asked.

Anyone with a little common sense will know how income is generated by Ports Authority and private companies in the immediate vicinity.
Now when the ships come and dock, there is a charge for that. Then the ship needs to refuel and restock material and food. It usually requires repairs and for that material is purchased from the local market just like food. Labour is required to load and unload goods to and from the ships. Duty has to be paid together with the administration fees charged. Then customs officers will be checking for any illegal materials. The crew would be visiting the local market to buy personal items and visit tourist sites.
These are just a few ways income is generated. I have been involved in clearing goods from Ports in quite a few countries, so I do have a little idea about what a valuable income source this Port is for Pakistan in the future.

With the shortest transportation route,the Chinese companies will save billions of dollars in transpoetation costs and time. The railway link and the gas pipleline will carry Chinese goods to Asia and Europe.The question is how it will benefit Pakistan? Will they pay toll tax for using Pakistani highways, will drivers stay in Pakistani hotels along the way or buy food from the local shops? The answer is absolutely NOT. The truck trailers are equiped with beds, heaters to warm food and the cabin. The trucks have larger gas tanks and no need to buy gas from local stations. The country will be floodded with cheap Chinese products and the local companies will be unable to compete with Chinese companies and million of people will be out of jobs.The highways are being built with Chinese machinery, material and labor. Same strategy will be used to build the pipeline and railways.Zero jobs for Pakistanis.The more I think about CPEC, the more I see its disasterous effects for Pakistan .

In America the trucks are much bigger and have rest sections also and other many things inside the trucks. But the hi ways of America is the life line of the trucking. Moving goods by road is 10 times more expensive than moving them by sea routes unless the destination is north western China. In case of South China Sea Blockade, China could use Gwadar as a strategic port. We will see how our Chinese experience is after a few years.
