International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday took notice of delay in Pakistan-India women cricket series and referred the matter to event technical committee of the council.

"The matter has been referred to the event technical committee, as soon as the committee makes a decision, it will be announced via a media release," said ICC spokesman.

Pakistan was supposed to host India for three One-Day International (ODI) match series before October this year but Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not furnish any reply to Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) offer to play the series at a neutral venue.

Pakistan and India were scheduled to play the series which would have affected the selection of qualifying teams for Cricket World Cup 2017.

ICC rules indicate that top four teams on the table before February 2017 will secure place in coming women cricket World Cup and other four teams will be decided after a qualifying round which is to be held in February 2017.

The PCB officials are hopeful to get six points as India refused to play the scheduled series.

Pakistan is currently standing at number 7 of ICC women's championship points table with eight points.

In the ICC Women's Championship, India currently sit sixth on the table with 13 points five points adrift of the top four. Pakistan are seventh with eight points. If the six points for the series are awarded to Pakistan, neither side will have a chance to directly qualify for the World Cup.

Pakistan and India women cricket teams are also scheduled to play on November 29 in Women's Asia Cup which will held in Thailand.

Cricketing ties between India and Pakistan are currently stalled, given the political tensions between the neighbours.

The men's teams have not played a bilateral series against each other since December-January 2012-13, when Pakistan visited India, but have met in various multi-team tournaments since then, including the World Cup, World T20, Champions Trophy and Asia Cup.
