Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday asked the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the arrests of his party's supporters by police.

Talking to reporters outside his Bani Gala residence, Khan asked under which law people were being arrested.

"They are abducting people, not arresting them."

He reiterated that it was a trial of the judiciary, under whose watch people were being arrested.

"Nawaz Sharif is a product of dictatorship, he does not understand democracy," he remarked.

He said whenever the alleged corruption of the prime minister or the issue of rigging is raised, "democracy, CPEC [and] development comes under threat".

Calling Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif "hypocrites", he said ex-president Asif Ali Zardari was not a hypocrite.

"He [Zardari] was who he was. He never pretended he would bring back looted money."

"They are going to launch a crackdown here today. I have told workers to gear up as we will be putting up resistance."

He said the caravan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will reach Bani Gala after removing all obstacles created by police.

"If this is a democracy, then [ex-president Pervez] Musharraf's dictatorship was a better democracy," he said.

PTI and the government have locked horns since the names of members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's family appeared in the Panama Papers leaks.

After months of verbal duels between the parties, Imran Khan announced plans to lay siege on the capital on Nov 2, and vowed to stay put until Prime Minister Nawaz resigns or presents himself for accountability in the backdrop of the Panama Papers scandal.

The government remains adamant that it will not allow the PTI to shut down Islamabad and action will be taken against the party according to law if it challenges the writ of the state.

Govt torturing women: Mazari

PTI leader Shireen Mazari has accused the government of using "torture" on her and two others in stopping them from reaching Bani Gala.

"Under what law are we being stopped from going to our leader's house?" she asked.

Mazari said she and her colleagues were "pushed" by police but she managed to reach Bani Gala with great difficulty.

"The cowardice of the prime minister and Chaudhry Nisar is exposed... they are torturing women."

She said the interior minister had claimed to have advised police not to bother women but it still happened with her: "Either teach the police [on how to treat people] or don't lie on TV".

TV footage showed the PTI leader walking on the road to Bani Gala and police trying to stop her.

"We will come here everyday... Bani Gala is not the property of Nawaz Sharif.
