QUETTA: All lawyers’ representative organisations of Balochistan have announced that they will boycott a full court reference of the Balochistan High Court to be held on Monday.

The reference is being held to pay homage to lawyers who were killed in the Aug 9 suicide bombing outside the Quetta civil hospital.

Senior lawyer of Balochistan High Court Sajid Tareen told Dawn that a joint meeting of the representatives of Balochistan High Court Bar Association, Balochistan Bar Association, Balochistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association’s Balochistan chapter had decided to boycott the court reference.

The representative bodies of lawyers were of the view that the BHC decided to hold the full reference for the slain lawyers after the passage of two-and-a-half months which showed the BHC’s non-serious attitude towards the incident.

“We have decided to not attend the court reference because of the cold shoulder attitude shown by the BHC towards lawyers’ issues,” Mr Tareen said.
