CHARSADDA: The police on Sunday arrested an Afghan refugee on charges of allegedly raping a 15-year-old mentally challenged girl in limits of Charsadda city police station.

Police and locals said that accused, presently residing in Gedar Kallay area here, had raped the mentally challenged girl on three occasions.

They said the police arrested the accused person on the complaint of the girl’s father.

City police station SHO Imran Khan told media persons that the accused confessed to the crime during interrogations that he had raped the girl for three times. He also confessed that only Rs10 were offered to the girl, who he said, was brought to his house where he committed the crime.

The police registered a report against the accused under section 376 of the PPC, which is related to sexual abuse.
