LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has issued a high alert on the basis of intelligence reports that banned outfit Lashkar-i-Jhangvi Al-Mi (LJA) is planning to strike Shias in Faisalabad.

Alerting the law enforcement agencies in Punjab to take high security measures, the home department warned that the LJA associates may target Shias in Faisalabad in Muharram.

“They (terrorists) of the banned organization are in need of weapons to carry out attack in Faisalabad”, quoting home department’s alert an official told Dawn.

He said the outfit was mainly active in Balochistan and Karachi and its plans to carry out terror attack in Punjab (Faisalabad) raised eyebrows of the law enforcement agencies.

The law enforcement agencies have been directed to take appropriate measure to avoid any untoward incident.

“In view of the sensitive situation, you’re directed to increase the security of all the events of Shias and entry/exit points of the city and at the checking points/pickets in the city and distribute this highly sensitive information among your police stations”, the alert letter says.
