GUJRANWALA: Ten policemen, including two station house officers, were dismissed from service for helping suspects flee police custody.

Five policemen were handed down penalty of forced retirement and two-year service of one was forfeited.

Reports said three ‘criminals’ had disappeared from the judicial complex some three months back. A case was registered against Saddar lock-up in-charge Akram Gill, inspectors Taseer Riaz, Taqi Shah and several others.

After inquiry, City Police Officer Muhammad Waqas Nazir dismissed from service Akram Gill, Taqi Shah, Mohsin, ASI Naseer, Abid Shah and others. Two-year service of Taseer Riaz was forfeited.

TWO KILLED: Two people were shot dead in separate incidents here on Sunday.

Sajjad, 30, a resident of Maraliwala, was standing at his doorstep when two motorcyclists opened fire on him. He succumbed to his injuries at DHQ hospital.

Tatliali police have registered a case on the complaint of his father Muhammad Yaqoob.

In another incident, Nabeel Gill of Galla Gillanwala, Alam Chowk, was shot dead by his rivals on Sunday. Police have registered a case.
