LAHORE: India is creating a war hysteria to divert the world’s attention from its brutalities in Kashmir, said Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq.

Addressing the JI youth festival held under the aegis of its women’s wing at Aiwan-i-Iqbal here on Saturday, Haq said the world community should take notice of India’s war plans and threats to Pakistan. Female students from different institutions attended the festival.

“We want to tell India that an Indo-Pak war will not be confined to the two countries but its flames will spread in all directions. Therefore, the world should not sit idle and take practical steps to restrain India and prevent a war,” he said.

The JI chief alleged that Hindu fanatics were treating Muslims, Sikhs and Christians worse than animals. On the economic front, India was suffering from worst poverty and millions of its citizens were forced to go to sleep on empty stomachs, yet Indian premier Narendra Modi was spitting venom against Pakistan to conceal his failures.

He deplored that the rulers were busy amassing wealth while India was preparing for war. “A system based on injustice and exploitation is going on in the country and the masses are deprived of basics of life but the ruling elite are enjoying the luxuries of life,” he alleged.
