PESHAWAR: A person allegedly shot and injured a transgender person over a monetary dispute in the limits of Pishtakhara police station here on Saturday.

Police said the transgender person received a bullet injury on her palm and was out of danger.

A police official identified the transgender person as Deedar. He said that she informed police that Shahid, a resident of Pishtakhara, had loaned Rs300,000 from her to purchase a car, and when she went to him to ask for return of money, he opened fire and injured her.

Police said the accused had been arrested. SP Cantonment Kashif Zulfiqar quoted witnesses as saying that the wound was self-inflicted after the transgender person opened fire on her hand. He said the injured was a friend of the accused and she had gone to his hujra to settle the monetary dispute. The police officer said that legal action would be taken after medical findings.
