KOHAT: The social and political circles here have demanded of the government to establish a dialysis centre in one of the government hospitals here so as to rid the people from journey and costly treatment at Peshawar.

At present, a centre established 15 years ago and run by philanthropists, businessmen and doctors is providing service to the patients who could not afford their treatment. However, the number of patients is increasing every year and the centre can’t provide free services to all of them.

Caretaker of the centre, Masood Ahmed Paracha, said that it was a big task as each procedure cost Rs3,000 and they also had to pay salaries of the staff. Shortage of financial resources had been affecting the help and treatment of needy people.

During the PTI-led government conditions of government hospitals here had deteriorated despite its slogans of bringing improvement in health sector.

Mr Paracha said that the government should at least put its share of funds in the treatment of kidney patients if it could not establish a dialysis centre at the government hospital.

He suggested that the government should persuade the OGDCL and other local and foreign oil and gas exploration companies working in the area to fund establishment of the much-needed dialysis and burns centres to save the lives of people.

PRE-NURSERY SCHOOLS: The Parwan Pre-School Programme and Children Global Network Pakistan (CGNP) with the collaboration of the federal government’s education and training department will set up 135 pre-nursery schools in Kohat.

These schools will impart training to the toddlers through special education techniques. This was said by participants of a ceremony held here after the training completion of the teachers here on Sunday.

In this regard 31 unemployed youth had been given 30 days training of special education who would teach in these schools.

Programme manager of CGNP Ms Saima said that under the programme they would provide education to children from two to five years of age besides training the jobless youth as teachers. District coordinator Mohammad Irfan said that the programme had already been launched in Khushab, Kohat, Bahawalpur and Charsadda districts.
