Xiaomi enters laptop market with $750 Mi Notebook Air

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi announced its foray into the laptop market with its first ever laptop computer “Mi Notebook Air”, a system designed for high end gaming and mutli-tasking.

According to the company’s vice president Hugo Barra, the Mi Notebook comes into two sizes, 12.5” and 13.3”. The smaller version sports an Intel Core M3, 11.5hr powerful battery, 1080p FHD screen, edge-to-edge protective glass, AKG custom dual speakers with Dolby digital surround sound.

With full metal body, the product weighs only 1.07 kilogramme and can be bought only US $540 (Rs57,000 approximately).

Mi Notebook Air 13.3", a system especially designed for gaming, has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 980MX graphics card, a 256GB SSD, Intel Core i5, a 9.5hrs powerful battery and a Type-C USB socket. The product is priced US $750 (Rs 78,600).

Both the laptops run on Microsoft Windows 10.

Xiamo will make the laptops available for sale in China from August 2, however, the company has not announced any release date for international market.
