KASUR: The driver of a bus died while 12 others, including a female attendant, suffered injuries when the bus hit a trailer on Thursday at Naimat Chowk on Multan Road in Pattoki.

The Lahore-to-Multan bus (MNS-9155) hit the 22-wheeler trailer due to speeding. Driver Zulifqar Shah died while helper Saima Bibi and passengers Ijaz Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Asif, Kashif, Farooq, Shahzad and Zulifqar were injured.

They were rushed to the Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters hospital to be referred to the Lahore Jinnah Hospital owing to their critical condition.

Police are looking into the matter.

KILLED: A textile unit owner was booked on Thursday for allegedly killing a worker here at Adda Jumber in Phoolnagar.

According to complainant in the first information report, his brother Ijaz (25), a worker at the factory of Muhammad Aslam, was tortured to death by Aslam and his two accomplices when he demanded salary. Also, a man allegedly strangled to death his sister-in-law (wife of brother) over a domestic issue on Thursday, at Chak 41, Khudian.

Police said Saima Bibi, wife of Nazir Ahmed, was packing her household to shift to the Pattoki city from village for the education of her children. Pervaiz, brother of NAzir, did not want his brother to leave the village for the city. After exchanging words, Perveez strangled Saima to death.

Police are looking into the matter.

HANGED: A murder convict was hanged at the Kasur district jail on Thursday.

Muhammad Tariq was sentenced to death for stabbing to death his father-in-law in 2005 at village Jayianwala. The jail authorities handed over the body of Tariq to heirs after legal formalities.
