GHALANAI: Two personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) were killed in a bomb blast in the Mohmand tribal region on Tuesday.

Security officials said that the IED blast occurred in the border area of Biazai tehsil. The two personnel, who were on a routine patrolling on a motorcycle, were moving towards the Rahat Post when hit by the blast on a Kacha track. They suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Naik Ali Khan and Lance Naik Rafiq Khan. Their funeral prayers were offered at the Mohmand Rifles Headquarters in Ghalanai.

Later their bodies were sent to their native villages for burial.

Meanwhile, a vehicle of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) was hit by an IED near Loty Camp in the main Peshawar-Ghalanai road area of Pandiali tehsil.

Three people — Col Zafar, his driver and his companion Nasir — were injured in the blast.

Two of the injured were rushed to the Ekkaghund Rural Health Centre while the driver was referred to a hospital in Peshawar.

Security forces safely blasted another IED found in the same area.

Soon after the incident security forces launched a search operation in adjacent areas. However, no arrest was reported till late night.
