MINGORA: Police arrested a man in Manrrai area of Matta tehsil here on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in terrorist acts.

According to Matta police, Behramand, a resident of Manrrai, was wanted by law enforcement agencies for his anti-state activities during the Swat insurgency from 2007 to 2009.

He was arrested by counter-terrorism department of police on a tipoff in Manrrai village. He was shifted to an unspecified location for further investigation.

Matta tehsil was a stronghold of Swat Taliban where they had established their own courts, police stations and punishment cells.

Meanwhile, security forces demolished a house of a wanted militant at Dherai village in Kabal tehsil. According to local sources, security forces demolished the house of Suleman, who was allegedly involved in facilitating target killers and militants. After security forces eliminated militancy from Swat valley by conducting a successful military operation in 2009, they demolished hundreds of houses of the absconded militants.
