KOHAT: Police have arrested a notorious outlaw and five other proclaimed offenders and seized weapons in a raid in Junglekhel area of the city.

According to a police statement, during the raid police were able to arrest Yousaf Shinwari and five other suspects involved in a triple murder case.

It said that Shinwari and his nephews namely Asim and Qasim had killed two brothers Mohammad Hasan Gul and Suleman and one Afghan national Habib Khan on March 12 this year.

The family members of the deceased brothers had appeared before the regional police officer Akhtar Hayat Gandapur and appealed for arrest of the alleged murderers. Mr Gandapur had constituted a special team, headed by DPO Kohat, to ensure early arrest of the POs.

During the raid, the police were also able to recover three small machine-guns, three pistols, four hand grenades, magazines and hundreds of rounds.

‘QUL’ HELD: The transgender community of Kohat on Sunday held ‘Qul’ and offered ‘fateha’ for the departed soul of their colleague Alisha, who was killed in Peshawar.

A large number of transgender people gathered at Tirah Bazaar where the ‘Qul’ was held.

Speaking on the occasion, Shemale Association president Farzana said that 45 transgender people had been killed in targeted incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2015 which should serve as a wakeup call for the government.

Farzana regretted the attitude of the doctors and nurses of the Lady Reading Hospital who could not provide timely treatment to the seriously injured Alisha. She demanded severe punishment to the alleged killer.

Ittefaq Welfare Organisation chairman Esar Ali Bangash, meanwhile, demanded of the government to ensure implementation of the job quota for the community.

In a statement, he urged the government to start stipend and loan scheme for the transgender people.
