Pakistan opener Sharjeel Khan on Thursday said he had been receiving calls from unknown phone numbers threatening to post his ‘fake videos’ on social media.

The Hyderabad born southpaw addressed his fans by posting a video on his Facebook account in which he asked them not to believe in those videos.

“I have been receiving threats through phone calls from unknown numbers. Some people are trying to hack my Twitter and Facebook accounts too,” said Sharjeel.

“They are threatening me that they will post videos that are apparently featuring me.

“If anything like that comes up please do not believe it as all those videos will be fake and this is just an attempt to ridicule me,” added the 26-year-old.

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), along with the Hyderabad police is helping the cricketer to find a solution to the matter.

However, the board maintained that making such issues public is a violation of the players' code of conduct.

Sharjeel made his international debut in 2013 and was a part of the Pakistan side in the recent Asia Cup and World T20 campaigns.

The hard-hitting batsman also represented Pakistan Super League champions Islamabad United in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
