ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police were ordered to take action against PPP leader Nayyar Hussain Bokhari and his bodyguard after one of them allegedly slapped a security official on Wednesday.

Nayyar Bokhari and his guard were trying to gain entry to Islamabad district courts when they were stopped by law enforcement personnel deployed for security, a First-Information Report registered against the men states.

The guards posted at the entry point asked to search the former senate chairman who arrived at the premises accompanied by his guards. The move led to a heated exchange, upon which Bokhari insulted the security staff present and one of the men slapped a special branch constable, the FIR said.

The special branch personnel deployed for security left their posts in protest after the incident.

A First-Information Report has been registered against two men at Margalla police station. Islamabad Inspector General Tariq Masood ordered police to follow due legal process and stated that he fully supports the police force.

"We will not tolerate VIP treatment, and it is important to follow security procedures in the current security situation," said the inspector general.

The incident comes at a time when the federal capital and Rawalpindi are on high alert and security agencies have been directed to maintain a strong vigil.
