MANSEHRA: The Hazara University’s teachers on Friday criticised the management for allowing the prime minister’s public meeting on the premises and complained they’re disgraced in the name of security.

“I have no words to condemn the way our academic staff members were insulted on our own campus in the name of security. The university’s administration is responsible for it.

We’ll announce the future course of action in our meeting scheduled to be held on Monday,” president of Hazara University Academic Staff Association Dr Aftab Afzal told reporters here.

Dr Aftab said the association didn’t meet on Friday due to the syndicate’s meeting, so it would finalise the strategy for action against all those responsible for the humiliation of teachers by the police and security agencies.

“If the administration had closed the university for two days on the arrival of the prime minster, then it must also have allowed faculty members not to be on duty. The police didn’t allow them to go to their offices and misbehaved with them at various points in the name of security,” he said.

Dr Aftab said the universities were not supposed to host political meetings and instead, they’re seats of learning and therefore, the administration had better not allowed the prime minister’s public meeting.

MAN KILLS WIFE: A man on Friday killed his wife in Khaki Shah Baba area of Oghi over a video scandal.

“I shot my wife dead over her objectionable video uploaded on social media earlier this year,” Haider Zaman said after surrendering to the police in Oghi.

The video was allegedly uploaded by Mohammad Shabir, who was allegedly killed by the woman’s brother, Mohammad Ali, on Feb 3.

The police arrested the accused and registered a case against him.
