NEW DELHI: Indian security forces have killed three of 10 alleged terrorists that were tipped off by Pakistan, reports said on Wednesday.
The Hindu quoted a top home ministry official as saying that National Security Adviser of Pakistan Naseer Khan Janjua’s inputs over alleged infiltration of terrorists were correct. He said that three of the 10 terrorists were “neutralised” three days ago but gave no details.
The official said that investigators were not in a position to share any further information about the three killed terrorists as verification process was still on. He also said that the terrorists planned to strike at the famous Somnath temple on the coast of Gujarat, ahead of Maha Shivratri celebrations last week.
“There are seven more, whom we have to track. The terrorists could belong to a third country as well,” said the official.
Mr Janjua had tipped off his counterpart Ajit Doval, reportedly saying that Pakistan had information about 10 terrorists, belonging to either Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), The Hindu said.
CNN-IBN news channel said that while working on the leads, the Indian security agencies had got information that the terrorists managed to infiltrate into Delhi.
“We have information that the terrorists might target market places and malls,” Delhi Police sources had said. All the vital installations in Delhi including India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, railway stations have been on high alert.

A Very good step by Pakistan - unless we don't acknowledge certain wrongs, we cannot fight them. Living in denial only aggravates ours and our neighbours problem. Hence this is a right step -- problem was acknowledged, inputs were shared, problem was neutralised. A few such consecutive steps will compel India to loosen its stand on certain issues.

This is a very good sign. Any individual or group cannot be allowed to hold the peace process hostage between the two nations. If we decide to go for peace or war with India, it should be the decision of legitimate institutions of Pakistan not of those who think that war, death and destruction is the best way to deal with our neighbors.

Nice co-ordination between the two countries. Next thing is to trace the remaining 7 terrorists at the earliest, and neutralize them. Also thoroughly investigate the backgrounds of the 3 killed. Hope Pakistan will help till the end.

I guess these are the fruits of 'talks' that are happening (through back door or front door or whichever door). While critics will continue to make allegations that India-Pak talks are not going anywhere, we can see the results on the ground. Way to go guys!

Lets sit down together and solve all our issues. People with hidden agendas will try to derail peace talks but as long as both the states are sincere in averting those cowardly acts for each other we are in the right direction. that will be a day to dream when i can walk over to Lahore do some shopping and come back to India and vice versa for my Pakistani friends

If India and Pakistan work together with sincerity, their joint efforts can become fruitful in defeating terrorism in the region. Pakistan's gesture has worked we'll and can lead to much needed confidence and trust between the two countries paving the ground to resolve other issues and remove obstacles in the way of establishment of durable peace in the sub-continent. That is what the peoples of the two countries need for their economic well being.
