KOHAT: The basketball association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reacted angrily at the axing of prolific player Pyao Khan of Wapda from the South Asian Games (SA Games) squad at the eleventh hour, terming it as sheer injustice.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the president of the KP basketball association Afqari Awan and former Olympian from Kohat Imtiaz alias Dhodi Ustad said that the Wapda team stood runner-up in the National Games in which Pyao Khan showed exemplary performance and his name was included in the SAF Games.

“But suddenly he was dropped although he had given his passport to the authorities on their request,” they said, adding that they would raise their voice against this injustice and nepotism in the basketball team and the appointment of a 75-year-old coach by some vested interests.

They demanded the inclusion of Pyao in the team who belongs to the neglected province of Balochistan.
