LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Friday awarded death sentence on two counts to three people involved in the murder of the parents of former Supreme Court judge Javed Iqbal.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs550,000 each on Naveed Iqbal, Abbas Shakir and Ameen Ali.

Naveed Iqbal, stepbrother of Justice Iqbal, in connivance with two other persons, murdered judge’s father Abdul Majeed (a retired DIG) and mother Ms Zareena in 2011.

The Factory Area police had registered a case.

PILOT: An additional district and sessions judge on Friday dismissed bail petition of a private airline’s pilot in crash landing case.

Earlier, a judicial magistrate also denied bail to pilot Asmat Mahmood who was mainly charged with putting lives of the passengers at risk by crash landing the plane while being drunk.

The pilot had crash landed a plane of Shaheen Airlines at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Nov 3, 2015 under the influence of liquor. Sarwar Road police had arrested the pilot from his Karachi residence.
