LARKANA: Inflicting the worst defeat on the PPP-supported candidates, the Sindh-Dost panel of lawyers swept election of the District Bar Association (DBA) Larkana held on Saturday under the supervision of Sixth Additional Sessions Judge Muhammed Yusif Mangi.

The entire panel emerged victorious in the annual elections. Babu Safraz Khan Jatoi of the PML-N got 298 votes and defeated PPP’s nominee Inayatullah Morio who obtained 121 votes for the seat of president. Irshad Chandio won the seat of vice president with 213 votes while his opponent Akbar Ali Dahar secured 202 votes. Muhammed Imran Abbasi of the Larkana Awami Ittehad(LAI) became general secretary with 212 votes whereas his opponent Ahmedullah Bhutto got 102 votes.

Ajmeer Ali Bhutto won the seat of joint secretary by getting 234 votes and defeated Zafarullah Soomro of the PPP who got only 181 votes. Aijaz Ali Sangi got 213 votes and defeated Deedar Junejo who obtained 101 votes for the seat of library secretary while Mazhar Ali Bhutto of the Sindh-dost panel secured 235 votes to become treasurer by defeating his opponent Abdul Qadir Abro who obtained 177 votes.

The PPP had been winning the Bar’s elections for a long time, but this time the defeat has compelled the PPP to rethink about its election strategy in lawyers community.
