LAHORE: Mrs Razia Yusuf Saigol, the mother of Naseem Saigol and known industrialist Azam Saigol and mother-in-law of Mian Mohammad Mansha, died here on Monday after a brief illness. She was over 100 years old. She was laid to rest in Gulberg graveyard.

A large number of people, including former foreign minister Khursheed Kasuri, Najam Sethi, Mian Misbahur Rehman, Mian Yousuf Salahuddin, Mian Ehsan, Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan, Amer Malik and Tariq Saeed, attended the funeral.

Her Qul will be held on Wednesday (Dec 16) at 3pm followed by Dua at 4pm at her residence, 10-G, Gurmani Road, Gulberg-II, Lahore.

Notwithstanding her age, she had been running a family welfare centre and a charity school in Babu Sabu area.

The bereaved include Shahida and Iqbal Saigol, Naseem and Sehyr Saigol, Naz and Mohammad Mansha, Azam and Amber Saigol, Rashida Saigol, Farida Saigol, Nasreen Saigol, and her grand- and great-grand children.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Mrs Saigol. In a condolence message, he prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
