KOHAT: Unknown robbers struck at three different places here and got away with cash and valuables.

Police sources said that in the first incident unidentified men barged into the house of one Haji Akbar in KDA township and decamped with a laptop and other valuables.

In the other incident, unidentified robbers held up a van and snatched Rs4,000 cash and other items from the driver, namely Khan, in Nasratkhel area and escaped.

Similarly, a truck driver going from Kohat to Hangu was deprived of cash at gunpoint on Hangu road. The police registered cases and began investigations.

HASHISH SEIZED: The police foiled an attempt of smuggling huge quantity of hashish from tribal area to Punjab and arrested a member of an inter-provincial gang of smugglers.

A police spokesman has said that the district police officer had received a tip-off that smugglers would try to carry hashish from Orakzai Agency to Punjab via Kohat. Upon checking of vehicles at Ustarzai Bala along the tribal border, a police team recovered 72 kilograms of fine quality hashish from a pickup and arrested its carrier, Abdul Malik, a resident of Kandao Nowshera.

The Ustarzai police registered a case and sent the accused to prison on the court orders.
