MINGORA: Young students of Swat exhibited their talent through creative models in a science and arts exhibition here on Saturday.

The three-day exhibition that started on Friday in Swat Public School and College was crowded with students, parents and teachers where they happened to see the science models, arts display and cultural stalls organised by the students.

The objective of the activity, according to the organisers, was to bring out the hidden talents of the students through different models, projects and other creative work.

“The students practically showed their talents through the models and replicas which they displayed in their stalls,” Qazi Mohammad Khalil, principal of the SPS College told Dawn. Students were excited to brief the audience about their models ranging from science to environment, space, video games, culture and arts.

Mohammad Ehtesham and Hamza Bacha, two students who had displayed their designed model on renewable energy resources, told Dawn that work on solar and wind energy must be done in the country as it was cheap and better than thermal energy.

Some students who were standing behind a big model of Gwadar city said that Pakistani engineers and scientists were capable to properly design their own projects and cities.

“We have given the idea of making the Gwadar city through this model with every facility, which is seismic proof, and have underground controlled canal system flowing into a dam to produce electricity,” said Malik Waqar Ahmad, a representative of six-member group, adding that water in the dam would be recycled for many purposes.

He said that it was pity that the government didn’t trust the local architects and engineers and would invite foreign experts for designing their projects.

Other participants said that such activities should be held regularly. The exhibition also attracted a large number of people to see and enjoy the science models, culture heritage and good food, all prepared by students of Swat.
