SWABI: Restructuring of UNSC sought

Published October 26, 2003

SWABI, Oct 25: Speakers at a function held on “the UN role in the new world scenario” called for the restructuring of the UN Security Council.

They said the UN had been used by the world’s major powers as a tool for achieving their objectives. They demanded implementation of the Security Council’s resolutions on Kashmir and Palestine.

Addressing the function, Prof Mukhtiar said that the Security Council had become a theatre of rivalry between west and east.

Another speaker Prof M. U. Ali said that the restructuring of the UNSC was need of the hour. He rejected the idea of giving the veto power status to India or Israel.

An expert on world politics Qaisar Khan, JUI (F)’s Najeem Khan and JI’s Amir Nawaz Khan also addressed the function.
