PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday said the people of Pakistan have "unshakable trust in their armed forces" and acknowledge the sacrifices rendered by the army in the ongoing anti-terror operation.

The army chief during a visit to Frontier Corps Headquarters in Peshawar paid rich tributes to the sacrifices rendered by the force fighting 'hand in glove' with the army in anti-terror operation, according to a series of tweets issued by Director General of Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Bajwa.

"Indomitable courage of army and FC personnel has been the bedrock of Operation Zarb-i-Azb," said the COAS.

The army chief also lauded the efforts of police and other security agencies who courageously braved the onslaught of terror and rendered innumerable sacrifices in the nation's fight against terrorism.

Earlier, the COAS was briefed by Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) about the paramilitary force's capacity building and its preparedness to cope with challenges.

The army chief was also briefed about the progress of operations the FC is carrying out in many areas of the province

General Raheel Sharif also reviewed manpower and defence equipment in FC's possession aimed at building the capacity of the paramilitary force.

While commending the force's contribution in the improved security situation, the COAS directed them to remain vigilant to foil any future attempts by terrorists to disrupt peace in the province.

About the situation at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the army chief stressed upon the need to work for close coordination with Afghan forces for durable peace in the region.

It is pertinent to note here that a survey carried out by the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) said Tuesday that Pakistan Army has emerged as the most trustworthy institution in the country.

The nationwide poll was conducted again from June 2 to 12, 2015, following the completion of the second year of the assemblies and the government.

The survey showed that Pakistan’s Armed Forces are leading as the most trustworthy institution, with an approval rating of 75pc.

Similarly, the Supreme and High Courts of Pakistan earned a strong approval Rating of 63 per cent, the print and electronic media 55pc and 54pc respectively, the National Assembly was characteristic of an approval rating of 49pc, followed by the civil courts at 43pc and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was able to earn an approval rating of 37pc.
