KARACHI: An old man and his elderly sister were killed in a fire that broke out in their apartment on Thursday, police said.

The fire was caused by a short circuit in the home located in Administrative Cooperative Society, said Tipu Sultan SHO Asif Rauf.

The man named Aslam, 65, and his 70-year-old-sister Naeema burned to death.

The officer added that the smoke emanating from their room alerted their neighbours but by the time fire engines arrived, both the man and his sister had died. They were unmarried, said the officer. —Staff Reporter
