LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has been approached for the cancellation of registration of private schools receiving exaggerated fees and for setting a fee structure for schools.

Barrister Zafarullah of the Watan Party filed a writ petition on Friday that private schools were minting money from parents in the name of education. He said the government authorities had let the institutions extort the parents.

He also questioned the efficiency of Competition Commission of Pakistan in controlling the fee structure of private schools.

He pleaded that free education was a constitutional right of every citizen but the government remained failed to protect this right.
