Squash U-11 trials begin

PESHAWAR: Trials to select players for the U-11 category of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy’s competitions got underway at the PSB Coaching Centre, Qayyum Sports Complex here on Thursday.

A total of 23 players turned up for the open trials wherein PSB director sports coaching centre and former World No. 2 Mohibullah Khan was the chief guest.

Mohibullah said that two players out of 23 would be shortlisted for the U-11 category of the PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy competitions, adding that so far several players had confirmed their participation in the open trials.

Former world champion Qamar Zaman along with two coaches of the PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy — Pervez Ali and Shehzad Mohib —

besides trainer Adil Khan thoroughly monitored the trials.

On the occasion, Shehzad said that each of the participating player will be given equal time to help him hone his skill, adding that players like Talha Iqbal, Mutahir Ali Shah, Azhar Ali, Ansar Nisar, Fida Hussain and Ismail Khan are some of the prominent players taking part in the trials.

Earlier, former world champion Qamar Zaman who formally inaugurated the trials lauded the efforts of Mohibullah Khan for organising open trials. He also gave valuable tips to budding players.—APP
