MULTAN: The provincial government has approved a Walled City Authority for Multan to rehabilitate dilapidated buildings in the walled city, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal told reporters on Friday.

The DCO said the provincial government had been directed to estimate the establishment of the authority.

“Paperwork is under way. The residents of the walled city will be shifted to alternative places and development work of billions will be done in the city,” he said.

He said the chief minister had sent the case of the journalists colony to the finance department and journalists would be able to construct houses there.

He said sewerage lines of the city would be cleaned and a water treatment plant near Head Muhammadwala would be made functional with the financial assistance of the World Bank. — Staff Correspondent
