I URGE higher authorities to look into the issue of degrees conferred by universities that are not recognised by the Higher Education Commission or by the professional councils concerned.

The state cannot absolve itself of the matter by merely saying it had warned the people through advertisements and notices. The students are fooled by institutions which promise the earth and the moon and many students are utterly at sea while opting for HEC accredited degrees.

I urge all youth seeking higher education to thoroughly check all claims made by such institutions as all that glitters is not gold. Many universities are offering courses that are not recognised by the HEC. In some cases, an HEC-recognised university starts courses without obtaining proper accreditation from the respective professional councils.

The names of many fake programmes in specific universities are on the HEC’s official website. I request all students to check it for the sake of their future.
