ISLAMABAD: A 14-day training camp for junior tennis players between ages 13-17 years is in progress at POF Tennis Centre under the auspices of the POF Sports Control Board.

Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) president Saleem Saifullah Khan inaugurated the training camp in which top twenty junior players from across Pakistan are participating. Four of these junior players hail from Wah Cantt.

The Asian Tennis Federation has hired an internationally qualified coach in Khansaman Pracharapol of Thailand to impart high quality training and modern playing techniques to Pakistani junior in this tennis training camp. Col Inamullah Khan is the camp commandant.

Speaking on the occasion, PTF chief Saleem Saifullah thanked Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat, HI(M) Chairman POF Board, for arranging the training camp at POF. He added that sports facilities available in POF are at par with the international standards and POF administration is playing a vital role for promoting sports in the country.

Earlier, POF Sports Control Board secretary Shehryar Khan welcomed the PTF president to the camp as chief guest. He further mentioned that this camp will provide an opportunity to the juniors to learn the latest techniques of tennis for junior players as they will represent Pakistan at international level.

PTF secretary Mohammad Khalid Rehmani and Sarwar Hussain, joint secretary of the Sindh Tennis Association also visited the camp and addressed the players and promised to keep all the top juniors engaged in tennis activities with not only the tournaments but also by setting up regular coaching camps.

He also informed that the third Indus Pharma national juniors and seniors tennis championship will be held in Karachi from Sept 4 followed by a PTF coaching camp in Karachi. He added that six more development series national juniors tournaments shall also be held at various cities of country between now and Dec 2015.—Agencies
