KARACHI: An antiterrorism court remanded on Wednesday two suspects in police custody in a case about kidnapping, rape and murder of a minor girl.

The police arrested both the suspects on Aug 4 for allegedly raping and killing a seven-year-old girl after abducting her for ransom last week in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth, and produced them in court to seek their remand for questioning.

The judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso of ATC-I handed them over to police on physical remand till Aug 17 and directed the investigating officer to reproduce them on next date of hearing along with a progress report.

The court had also remanded another suspect in the case in police custody a couple of days ago.

A case was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 363 (kidnapping), 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property etc.), 376-II (gang rape) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 at the Sachal police station.

Former officials remanded

An anti corruption court remanded on Wednesday two former administrators of a housing society in the custody of anti-corruption establishment in corruption cases.

The ACE arrested Altaf Hussain Memon and Akhtar Pathan, former administrators of the Quetta Town Cooperative Housing Society, for allegedly embezzling Rs15 million by fraudulently issuing cheques in the name of fake accounts in collusion with their subordinates. he investigating officer produced the suspects in the court and sought their custody for questioning.

The judge of special provincial anti-corruption court judge Gulshan Ara Chandio handed them over to ACE on physical remand till Aug 7.

They have separately been booked under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 467 (forgery for valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan penal code read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at ACE police station.
