PESHAWAR: A staff nurse in Hayatabad Medical Complex has accused deputy medical superintendent of administration of harassing her.

Aleema Ghani told reporters at the press club on Saturday that DMS Razaq had made her life miserable by demanding undue favours from her. She said her sister Shamim Akhtar was also serving as charge nurse in the hospital and was also facing problems in performance of her duties.

“We belong to Charsadda district and residential facility in the hospital is our legal right but the DMS is not ready to provide us a room unless we meet his demands,” she alleged and said several other nurses working in different hospitals, including PIMPs, KMU, had occupied rooms in the nurses hostel due to their influence.

Ms Ghani said the DMS had also stopped her and her sister’s salaries, saying she had been transferred to DG health and her sister was issued a show-cause notice, and also warned her of dire consequences.

“After being refused a room in the hospital’s hostel we approached human rights activists and as result a room was allotted to us on March 26, but the said official avoided giving us possession of the room,” she said.

The nurse alleged that on July 11 the DMS called her to his office, bolted the room and beat her up after she refused to entertain him.

“The DMS called police to his office and got fake FIR registered against me accusing me of ransacking his office. He also implicated my sister Shamim and another nurse Perveen in the false case,” she added.

The nurse said some suspected people at the behest of the DMS used to chase us wherever we go, but none of the high ranking officials are taking notice of the injustices,” she said.

The female nurse demanded of PTI chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to take notice of the injustices, award punishment to the DMS, and help them provide accommodation in the nurses’ hostel.
