UN awaiting UNMOGIP report on truce violation by India

UNITED NATIONS: The spokesman to the United Nations secretary general has confirmed that the UN Mission in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) is investigating Pakistan’s allegation of ceasefire violations by India.

Responding to a question at a briefing on Tuesday, deputy spokesman Farhan ul Haq said that since there was no report from the UNMOGIP so far “I have nothing to say”.

According to an ISPR press release, the UNMOGIP was asked by Pakistan Army to “use its good offices to investigate Indian ceasefire violation”.

At least three people were killed and five others suffered injuries in Sialkot’s Chaprar sector on Thursday, and another person was killed in Azad Kashmir in firing across the Line of Control.
