QUETTA: The BNP-M has accused the provincial government of pursuing a duplicitous policy, saying that opponents are approached to resolve the Balochistan issue through talks, but at the same time mutilated bodies continue to be found in different areas.

Speaking at a condolence reference held on Wednesday to mark the death anniversary of the party’s secretary general Habib Jalib Baloch, the BNP-M leaders alleged that the government was neither sincere nor serious about resolving the contentious issues facing the province.

Senator Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldani, deputy organiser of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal, and other leaders paid homage to martyrs of Balochistan who had sacrificed their lives in the ongoing struggle for rights of Baloch people.

They said that the BNP-M had always remained in the forefront of political movement to protect the coast and resources of the province. They said that on one hand usurpers had been exploiting the resources of Balochistan, on the other they were using state apparatus to suppress the voices that were challenging the `injustices’.

The BNP-M representatives urged the government to let Baloch people run the affairs of the Gwadar seaport and other developmental projects and cautioned that unilateral decisions being made by the federal government would be meaningless if local people were not taken in confidence on vital issues.

The BNP-M leaders announced that Baloch people would not accept the census in the province if carried out in the presence of Afghan refugees and demanded that the refugees should be repatriated to their home country.
