ISLAMABAD: Significant administrative changes have been made to the limits of the Islamabad police zones and circles (subdivisions).

Earlier, the capital police had nine circles but now two more have been created, police officials said.

They added that the changes were necessary due to the creation of some new police stations, increasing their total number to 22.

According to the officials, the chief commissioner Islamabad in response to a proposal sent from the office of the inspector general of police issued a notification changing the limits of the police circles and zones.

The limits of the City, Secretariat, Rural, Banigala, Shahzad Town, Margalla and Ramna have been changed while the jurisdictions of Saddar and Industrial Area circles remained unchanged.

The limits of all the zones have also been changed.

According the notification, the City zone, which had two circles and four stations – City circle, comprising Aabpara and Kohsar police stations, and the Secretariat circle of Secretariat and Bhara Kahu police stations – will now comprise the circles of Aabpara, Secretariat and Bhara Kahu.

The Aabpara circle will consist of Aabpara and Woman police stations, the Secretariat circle will consist of the Secretariat and Kohsar police stations and the Bhara Kahu circle will comprise Banigala and Bhara Kahu police stations.

Earlier, the Saddar zone had three circles – Margalla, comprising Margalla and Shalimar police stations, Ramna (Ramna and Woman police stations) and Saddar circle of Tarnol, Golra and Noon police stations.

This zone will now comprise three circles and six police stations. The Margalla circle will consist of Margalla and Karachi Company police stations, Saddar circle Golra and Tarnol police stations and Shalimar circle Shalimar and Ramna police stations.

Similarly, the Rural zone earlier comprised three circles and seven police stations – Shahzad Town circle comprising Shahzad Town, Koral and Khanna police stations, Banigala circle comprising Nilore and Banigala police stations and the Rural circle comprising Sihala and Lohi Bher police stations.

According to the notification, the zone will now comprise three circles – Shahzad Town, comprising Shahzad Town and Khanna; Koral of Loi Bher and Koral police stations while the Sihala circle will comprise Sihala and Nilore police stations.

The Industrial Area zone, which earlier comprised the circle of Industrial Area and the police stations of Industrial Area and Sabzi Mandi, will now consist of two circles – I-9 and Shams Colony – comprising the Industrial Area and Sabzi Mandi police stations and Shams Colony and Noon police stations, respectively.
