THATTA: PPP Senator Sassui Palijo on Thursday vowed to challenge the recently publicised delimitation of Thatta constituencies, saying that the manipulated delimitation was aimed at extending undue advantage to some particular parties and individuals in the upcoming local government elections.

She was speaking to the people affected by delimitation of the Sukhpur, Palijani, Kakraand, Takani, Buhara, Baghan and other union councils who called on her at her residence in Makli. Her panel of advocates and media personnel were also present.

Ms Palijo said that she would file objections with the Election Commission of Pakistan within the stipulated period of time, i.e. July 6-15.

She alleged that the Thatta district election commissioner had violated the Supreme Court and Sindh High Court guidelines pertaining to the spirit of the delimitation process. She also expressed her reservations over changing the historical names of certain UCs and, giving an example, said that the name of Jungshahi, her ancestral union council, had been changed to Haleji.
