QUETTA: A suspected militant was killed in a gunbattle between the Frontier Corps and militants of a banned organisation in Mashkey area of Awaran district on Wednesday.

In a separate action, three suspected militants were arrested by the FC personnel in Panjgur.

A Frontier Corps spokesman said that clashes were continuing between the militants and security personnel in Mashkey area, adding that a `commander’ of the banned Baloch Liberation Front organisation was killed while an FC man injured during the fighting.

With the killing of a militant leader, the death toll from the gunbattle that started on Tuesday climbed to 14.

Meanwhile, the FC troops arrested three suspected outlaws from Khuda-i-Abadan area of Panjgur district and recovered illegal weapons from their possession. However, their names were not disclosed.

The FC also picked up two men from Bolan who had allegedly kidnapped a labour inspector from Dhadar area of Bolan district last week for ransom.
