RTMA official caught

RAWALPINDI: A Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) official deputed to sell subsidised sugar at a stall in the Committee Chowk Ramazan bazaar was caught trying to steal a 50kg bag of the commodity on Monday.

Ulfat Shehzad, the in-charge of the bazaar, told Dawn that the secretary union council 30 was deployed at the stall to look after the sale of sugar at Rs52 per kg.

However, he said, other officials caught the secretary when he allegedly tried to shift the 50kg bag of sugar to his vehicle without any payment.

He said after getting permission from the town municipal officer, a complaint was lodged with the Waris Khan police against the official.

Town Municipal Officer Mir Akmal confirmed that the case against the official had been forwarded to the police.
