KARACHI: Bridge has been included in the 2018 Asian Games to be staged in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, World Bridge Federation announced on Wednesday.

According to communication received by WBF vice president Mazhar Jafri from head of the federation Gianarrigo Rona, all affiliated national bridge organizations, including the Pakistan Bridge Federation that the intellectual sport of bridge has been included in the 2018 Asian Games in pursuant to a recent decision of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

“This, indeed, is great news for bridge playing countries in Asia which will be eligible to participate, for the first time, in Asian Games,” Rona’s message said.

Bridge already stands recognised as a sport by OCA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and WBF has been conferred the prestigious status of the International Sport Federation.
