TIMERGARA: The federal government should give due share to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and increase allocation for education and health by four per cent each in GDP, said MNA Sahibzada Yaqub Khan here on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at Timergara Press Club, he said that he got approval of Rs350 million funds for supply of natural gas to different parts of the district.

The Jamaat-i-Islami lawmaker termed the federal budget unbalanced and discriminatory, especially for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. He said that 7.5 per cent increase in salaries of government employees was a joke with them as they were finding it hard to meet their daily needs.

The MNA demanded of the prime minister and minister for finance to announce fresh increase of 15 per cent in salaries of government employees. “There has been a nominal allocation in federal budget for health and education sectors. The government should allocate four per cent of GDP for health and education,” the MNA said, adding that federal government had ignored Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the budget.

Sahibzada Yaqoob asks centre to give due share to KP in Public Sector Development Programme

He said that centre always allocated equal funds for federating units under PSDP in the past but the PML-N government did not pay even a single penny to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under that programme.

The MNA also expressed concern over delay in construction of 132KV grid stations at Lal Qila Maidan and Samar Bagh funds for which had already been approved.

STRIKE: Like other parts of the province, the local paramedics also observed complete strike for acceptance of their demand of upgradation.

The paramedics boycotted duty at all health units of the district on Saturday due to which patients and their attendants suffered badly. The protesting health employees also took out a rally from district headquarters hospital in Timergara and marched on the road. The protesters gathered outside the press club where their leaders Hameed Gul, Mohammad Aman and Haroon Khan addressed them. The speakers alleged that provincial government was reluctant to sign the summary of their upgradation.

They said that government upgraded teachers, clerks and Class-IV employees but it was delaying the upgradation of paramedics.

They announced to hold a big rally outside of the provincial assembly in Peshawar on June 15 if the government did not accept their demand. The provincial government would unveil budget on June 15. RALLY: The Adenzai chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami took out a rally in favour of the Peshawar High Court’s verdict about disenfranchisement of women and against the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan the other day.

Scores of JI workers led by Advocate Rahimullah marched on the road from Chakdara Bazaar to the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, the JI local leaders demanded of ECP to notify Izazul Mulk Afkari as winner from PK-95 so that he could represent the people of his constituency in the budget session of the provincial assembly. They said that the high court’s stay order disappointed the so-called champions of women rights.
