QUETTA: Decomposed bodies of nine people who are believed to have died in a clash with security personnel in Kalat were brought to the Civil Hospital, Quetta, on Friday for identification. The bodies were found in Morgand Shekhri mountains range of Kalat district.

The Frontier Corps had claimed earlier this week that its personnel killed nine suspected militants who were allegedly involved in the Mastung massacre in an operation launched in the mountains of Kalat after the May 29 incident.

According to district administration of Kalat, local people informed the Levies Force about the presence of nine bodies in Saroon area of Morgand Shekhri mountains range. Levies personnel shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital in Kalat.

An official said that when no one came for identification of the bodies in Kalat they were shifted to Quetta.

A senior official in Balochistan’s home department told Dawn that a joint operation by Frontier Corps, police and Levies Force was still going on in Morgand, Saroon, Harboi, Johan, Nirmak, Khisar Takht and Gishak areas of Kalat and Mastung districts. He said the nine bullet-riddled bodies found in the mountains of Kalat were of the people killed in an operation by security forces in the area.
